The Underworld King’s Substitute Bride

To uphold the pact between the realms of the living and the dead, the Star Empire must, every twenty years, send a royal bride—who volunteers for the role—through the Black Gate to marry the King of the Underworld. In their past life, Princess Evelyn insisted on marrying Gideon, the commander of the Order of the Paladins, while her younger sister, Liana, conspired with the High Priest to deceive the Underworld by substituting a commoner in the bride’s place. When a tide of the undead eventually consumed the Empire, Gideon sacrificed himself to save Evelyn, his final plea being that she might spare him in their next life. Reborn, Evelyn resolves to leave that ill-fated love behind and takes her sister’s place in this deadly marriage contract. Yet, when a remorse-stricken Gideon follows her into the Underworld, the intricate web of schemes woven in their previous life begins to unravel.
